I've always been quite interested in the idea of perception and how it varies from person to person. So for this final project I wanted to convey the idea that everyone sees things differently but we are all also part of the same species and society. So I was thinking that I would use the same image within each of the sections of the honey comb and change them to where they are significantly different but are still noticeable as the same image. Possibly each cell is a different color, but also different filter effects to change the consistency of the image. I was thinking possibly an image of a landscape or city scape for the base image.

Interesting concept. I'd keep playing around with your base image idea though, focus more on a specific object, emotion, or idea that you think people do definitively see as something different.
ReplyDeleteGood call. Ill think of a specific image.
DeleteI think this idea has a lot of potential. It might be interesting if the colors form a mosaic, or a larger image. Maybe even a saying? Seems to be an original and fun idea to progress forward with.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! You have a really clear, simple direction to go so there's a ton of room now to make it look really awesome. I agree with everyone above that the base image is really important. Maybe you could have more than one image so it would be less repetitive? A group of three that touch on different aspects of what we see and interpret in life. It's possible that could cloud your concept though. Just throwing it out there.
ReplyDeleteI like this idea! Maybe you could show something that everyone tends to do, but also tries to hide from everyone else or that people usually do not pay attention to?
ReplyDeleteI agree with the other comments, that your base image should be something more specific and not just a landscape. Good concept.
ReplyDeleteI think you should consider researching optical illusions such as the duck rabbit image. consider creating an image where it is either or meaning either a duck or rabbit (not literally but you get my drift). Great concept.
ReplyDeletehmmm deep bro deep! I like your thinking and your choice to use a honeycomb; makes sense with its consistency and the way it ties bees together, hence tying us together. You may not need the landscape, I would keep it more anonymous for lack of a better word. Basically what I mean is keep the viewer thinking and don't allow them relate the image to a certain location.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of using a honeycomb (something that is singular, but put together by various "individuals"), it definitely adds to your concept. I would be careful about making it too busy, leave a few spaces white or expand the image and only use a section of the honeycomb so that it isn't too overwhelming.
ReplyDeleteI really like your concept, but I think the honeycomb idea might be more successful if each section were different sizes? Just to break up the repetition. Other than that I am excited to see what you will do with this piece!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jessica on varying the sizes. Also maybe think about showing different perspectives on one subject, so each of the combs are tied together somehow and not so random.
ReplyDeleteHi Daniel
ReplyDeleteI agree with Russ, concentrate on what you are trying to say. Why are you using buildings? Are you comparing it to the honeycomb, Nice metahphor built in, so nice direction. What exactly are you trying to say by combining these images? Anticipate that question on Monday Crit. Good start, Nice ideas.
